Wahine Wellness Resilient Hawaiʻi is rooted in pilina, kuleana, and generations of community-held care. Our work draws from Queen Liliʻuokalani's embodiment of benevolence, Native Hawaiian well-being research, and lived experience in Hawaiʻi to support women, youth, families, and lāhui.

The Queen wrote about societies of women who pooled small, regular contributions so that no family stood alone. Ka Lokomaikaʻi Collective™, the signature initiative of Wahine Wellness, carries that model of organized benevolence into the present.
LokomaikaʻiThe meaning behind the name
Lokomaikaʻi is one of our founder's favorite words in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi. It is the value and practice that guides the Collective, and it moves in three layers: manaʻo, pilina, hana. Meaning, relationship, practice.
Lokomaikaʻi can be understood as goodness, kindness, generosity, benevolence, and care that comes from within. For Wahine Wellness, this care begins in the naʻau and is carried outward through how we treat one another, how we gather, and how we support community.
Lokomaikaʻi is about how we choose to be in relationship with one another. It reflects care without shame, support without judgment, and generosity that protects dignity. Women, youth, families, and communities thrive through pilina, reciprocity, kuleana, and shared responsibility.
Through Ka Lokomaikaʻi Collective™, this value becomes visible in community gatherings, mentorship, cultural learning, business support, youth leadership, healing spaces, and collaborative partnerships. The Collective creates places where people are seen, supported, and strengthened.
